I make lists all the time. I like them. Grocery lists, every day To Do lists, Clean Your House lists.
You name a list and I’ve created one. The one thing I do not do is make New Year Resolutions! I don’t understand the point? If you need a new year in order to try to stop doing certain things, or try to do various chores you never want to do – you aren’t ever going to do it and there’s no need to torture yourself.
So now that 2009 is upon us and the “change”
that we have all been talking about is on it’s way I’ve decided to make a special list to mark the beginning of what is sure to be an interesting year.
I’ve created a list to post somewhere special (on TraffIK)
, to take people along with me while I’m completing my list, and to entertain the idea that you only live once and people should have goals that they want to complete!
My list is comprised of things I’ve always wanted to do, have yet to do and or think it could be fun to document myself and my friends trying to accomplish. Of course not all of my friends know that I’m dragging them along with me – but I’m guessing if they are reading this they will know soon enough!
So here’s my 2009 list of Things To Do
!!! I’m warning everyone now….I can’t do everything – but I can try can’t I?
Plus they will all be centered around Los Angeles – so I’m going to challenge whomever is reading this to try some of these too! But read this column first – in case it really sucks!!!
THINGS TO DO in 2009

- Volunteer once a month – anywhere
- Attend a community council meeting for my district
- Recycle all of my bottles and cans and take to a recycling center to see how much money I get?
- Go to one new bar, pub, lounge, once a month – someplace I have never been before
- Start exercising regularly and not just because I need to lose weight
- Try out for roller derby
- Go camping (I’ve never been)
- Go Deep Sea Fishing

- Spend one full day doing something for myself
- Learn how to make tamales
- Witness a miracle. (Don’t be fooled – I’m twisted)
- Do something kind for someone else
- Take a class where I learn something new
- Drive to wine country and engage in wine tasting
- Learn how to use my sewing machine and sew something I can actually wear
- Plant something in the ground and try to keep it alive all year long
- Travel someplace I’ve never been; i.e, The Salton Sea, Joshua Tree, The 909 Wineries, Del Mar, etc.
- Explore a mountain area – or anywhere explorable – like when you were a child.
- Fall in love with a new band.
- Go to Comicon / Adult Expo / Tattoo Expo / Car Expo.
- Go Skydiving
- Take a trapeze class
- Take a yoga class
- Pose naked for an art class

Some of these are so simple, but I think the most simple things in life can often times be the most rewarding.
Cheers to all of you in 2009!!! Wish me luck. XOX.
