MY SOUNDTRACK - WHAT I LISTENED TO...:

SIRIA’S SEPTEMBER PLAYLIST

This is the last time I’ll say this. I’m so glad Summer is over.

 Ok, I’m done, I promise.

Well, maybe just once more…

YAY!!!!!! Summer is over!!!!!!

Ok, now I’m really done. Really. Pinky swear. All done.

I’m not sure if Fall will be any better, as when I went to check my e-mail inbox I had 666 unread emails (yeah I know, and this email account isn’t even the account that gets spammed, newsletters, nor most of the Facebook/Myspace alerts).

On a brighter note, here is some wisdom that was subliminally imparted upon me this morning via a song playing on KCRW that I thought I’d enlighten you with (I don’t know the song name and won’t look it up, as I actually didn’t really enjoy the song all that much), “the road doesn’t move, you’re the one that moves.” All thanks to Jason Bentley and his efforts in making my morning eclectic.

Alright, September’s 2:05pm list…here we go.

The Who  – ” So Sad About Us”

I actually can’t decide if I like this original or The Jam’s version better. I think I’m going to go listen to this song as soon as I’m done posting this.

Also, have you ever seen The Who cover “Heatwave”? This song is one of my favorites for bands to cover. The New Fidelity still do the best live cover of this as far as local bands go.

Sea Wolf - “Wicked Blood”

I can’t escape this song, but I don’t really want to.

The Polecats “Make a Circuit With Me”

The Cult  “Love Removal Machine”

I hadn’t heard this song in a long time, but lately I’ve heard it everywhere.

Webb Pierce  – “I Ain’t Never”
One of two country songs on my list this week. Good ‘ol Country music, I love it.

Flesh for Lulu – “Siamese Twist”

Lately, I’ve been running into a guy who looks like he belongs in this band all over the place.

The Microphones   “Oh Anna”

The The“Dogs of Lust”

The Kinks –  ”Come Dancing”

You know every now and then I hear a song that I like and am not sure who sings it. Half the time it’s been a song by The Kinks. This happened to me with “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” when I first heard it a long time ago and now this song.

Lady Antebellum“Need You Now”

I’m not so into poppy country, Lady Antebellum has one foot on each side of those genres. I really like this song. George Strait’s “Run” also has the same effect on me that this song has, they both convey the feeling of needing someone at a certain moment. Not a booty call, but actually needing someone you care about.

Excerpt from “Run”

Dont you know I miss you bad
But dont you walk to me…

Lean on the gas and off the clutch
Leave dallas in the dust
I need you in a rush
So baby run

Dont let that speed limit slow you down
Go on and break it

Excerpt from “Need You Now”

Another shot of whiskey can’t stop lookin at the door
Wishin you’d come sweepin in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind,
For me it happens all the time..
Its a quarter after one I’m a little drunk and I need you now
I said I wouldnt call but I lost all control and I need you now…

Guess I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all…

Get the point?

Camera Obscura – “The Sweetest Thing”

Visqueen – “Hand Me Down”

VV BrownCrying Blood

I really wish I’d never seen this video. I’d like this song a lot more, if I’d never seen the video, there’s nothing specifically wrong with the video. I just don’t enjoy it.

Television -  “Glory”

I’m going to go listen to this song again now too.

Hawksley Workmen – “No Sissies”

Oh gosh, where do I start? I should spare you and omit this, but it played at 2:05 so I’ll leave it in here. I’d never heard of this artist/band nor song. I’m not sure I ever want to hear this again, but I do agree with them that “No sissies get my love.”  Nothing turns me off more than boys with no spine.
