Next up was Tommy Peacock (pictured left). At this point, the Viper Room started to fill up. During the set, Sarah Jeanette (The Mulhollands) and Jodie (The Shakers) could be seen dancing away. One song that Tommy Peacock played was called "And I bid U Good Night." This was done as an acappella trio. I thought for sure it was their last song, considering the song title and vocal style; but no, their last song was "One Night to Play."

For one song, they all dropped to the floor. I saw Tamaryn at the Bootleg Theatre. She’s from San Francisco, but had a nice crowd there to see her. I caught Meeting Places at Spaceland. I was there to catch Mere Mortals. It was a lovely night of shoegaze.

I almost called her up and told her to come to Silverlake Lounge to check out the band from Idaho . . . but she doesn’t own a car so I didn’t torture her with this information.
The First No. Before tickets went on sale, I learned via Facebook that many of my friends were excited about heading to the Palladium to see The Pixies. A friend asked me if I wanted to go to one of the shows. I declined. I feared that I wouldn’t be able to go, because I had an important work deadline scheduled for the first week of November.

The Second No. With a couple days before the Palladium dates, another friend asked if I was going to see The Pixies. I responded in the negative. I stated that I just didn’t want to spend the money purchasing a ticket to an event I wasn’t sure I’d get to attend.

I arrived at the Emerging Stage a little after 6 p.m., but the bands were a tad behind schedule so I got to see Leslie and the Badgers’ full set. I ran into my friend as well as a couple other friends during the set. After Leslie and the Badgers ended their set, we roamed around for awhile. During our roaming, we ran into another couple friends. This was suddenly becoming an awesome night of not only listening to bands, but also getting to hang with friends.

The Upfront. Yes, I’m playing off of (500) Days of Summer, but we here at TRAffIK really liked that movie.

What’s going on here. Now TRAffIK did technically kill off summer with the following blog, but hey, I had a nice summer and wish to do my own summer exit. This blog is going to take a trip from Highland Park to the Sunset Strip and various other locations between these two music spots.

This is a "night in photos" column with a short write-up tagged to it. Wednesday night, September 16th, I headed out to Spaceland and then to El Cid. At Spaceland, Diane Birch was in town. You may recall that I wrote a column about her awhile back (click here for that column). My regret about that column was not having any photos to share with you from that night. Therefore, the inspiration for this photo column that was discussed with my TRAffIK editor/friend. After Birch's set, I headed over to El Cid where I caught two bands: New Fidelity and New Maximum Donkey.

Upfront: Religion isn’t something that is mentioned on this website very often. I think I’ve read a couple passing references to religion, but nothing where the topic infused the whole column. This column deals with religion in a more direct way due to the musician I’m writing about, Diane Birch. It would probably be a disservice to her if I ignored the topic. If you’re offended by this topic of discussion, you’ve been warned and should stop reading . . .

I got an e-mail from a friend during the middle of the day about Diane Birch having an 8 p.m. set at Hotel Café. She was a must see he told us all on the e-mail. Now recent work hours had ramped up, but I was still game to go
