Green Lifestyle TV “A Day of Green Beauty” Fundraiser, Tuesday June 14

Instead of washing toxic chemicals down our drains when using synthetic shampoos, soaps, toothpastes, and facial cleaners, it would be eco-friendly, health producing, and logical to use natural products that are better for our bodies, for the earth, and for its oceans. Green Lifestyles TV is educating and assisting the general public in choosing and learning about natural ingredients over toxic chemicals and manufactured ingredients.
On June 14, 2011, non-profit *Green Lifestyle TV will team up with an “Eco-Conscious” Salon in Silverlake ( Natural Mind Beauty,) to hold “A Day of Green Beauty” Fundraiser. All proceeds from the event will benefit future Green Lifestyle TV’s educational programming (visit www.greenlifestylesonline.org this summer for videos and articles on green health and beauty alternatives.)
This event will kick off their summer-long Green Beauty Campaign and will include a “Green” Panel Discussion titled, “Beauty With a Conscience.” Panelists will discuss the hidden dangers in standard hygiene and beauty regimens and give solutions on how to be “gorgeous and radiant” without poisoning our inner and outer environments.

Palm Springs native-turned Los Angeles area based Candace Garcia has lent her talents of making people over to various fashion related, commercial, and live performance projects over her course as a make-up artist. Over the month of September she’ll be sharing some insight on the world of make-up and bringing us some of her own beauty tips!
TRAFFIK: How did you get involved with doing make-up and why?
CG: Growing up I always had loved make-up. When I joined my high school dance team I always did my make-up fun and creative. Then a lot of other dance team members and other girls at school liked it. So I often times practiced and did make-up for performances and proms etc. It makes me feel great when I can apply make-up to make someone feel great about they’re look or appearance. I’m proud of the art I do and it’s always seemed to help me express myself.
TRAFFIK:What are some of the various projects/shoots you have done make-up for?
CG: I have done make-up for a range of every day things to more stylized professional projects including: fashion shows, brides, Halloween, commercials, print work, snap shots, prom, as well as personal lessons.
TRAFFIK:What type of scenarios/situations (TV, commercial, fashion show/runway, photo shoots, etc.) do you most like doing make-up for?
CG: I love all make-up in general, but I especially love photo shoots. I admire photography and love being involved in the shoot. It’s great to work with different models & photographers because everyone has their own ideas, styles, amd way of working things. (more…)
What’s In My Make-Up Bag – Featured Make-Up Artist Laurene Alvarado
This month’s featured Make-Up Artist Laurene Alvarado shares some of her favorite products, product lines, and where to shop for them.
TRAffIK: What are some of your favorite staple products that you use?
LAURENE: SMASHBOX PHOTO OP UNDER EYE BRIGHTENER- This is by far one of my favorite products. Not only can it be used under the eyes, but I love using it lightly over the ‘t-zone’ to give the false illusion that light is coming thru the skin.
HiP High Intensity Pigments Jelly Balm by Loreal. It gives off great translucent color and it feels so soft, not sticky on the lips.
TRAffIK: What would your advice be for someone who has never worn make-up but wants to start?
LAURENE: Try a tinted moisturizer. Like ELIZABETH ARDEN SHEER LIGHTS ILLUMINATING TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 15- I use this product on myself as well as others all the time. It gives just the right amount of coverage without feeling ‘makeupy’. It works great as a foundation alone too.
TRAffIK: What is your going out make-up process (either daily morning getting ready or nighttime)?

BB’s Beauty Tips : #1 The Trick To a Stunning Glittery Eye.

Ever wonder how all that glitter stays on without flaking all over your cheekbones and under your eyes?
The trick is simple and easy.
When using a loose glittershadow use concealer as a base so it has something to stick to.
You can grab a small concealer brush and dip it in your concealer of choice. I prefer to use Lorac or Bobbi Brown concealer, which come in a small, easy to always have with ya pod.
Smooth concealer over the entire lid, or in the places you want to the shadow to go. With a shadow brush, dip in the lose glitter shadow and place on top of the concealer. The concealer acts as a glue so the glitter will stick to it.
