OUT TO SEE: PROJECT ETHOS’ FASHION SHOW (PART I)
My “M.O.” on Intraffik is blogging on music and movies, but as always I was more than willing to head off to Project Ethos. I just have this fascination with the creativity in the fashion industry. So here I am, writing up a little note on Project Ethos. Now I had to admit to FURIO Apparel that I dealt mainly on the music side, but that I was doing the night’s photography for Intraffik.
Now the e-mail I received indicated that press should arrive at 7 p.m. I was thinking, who is going to arrive at 7p.m.? I showed up at 7:30 p.m. and there were already lines outside of the Avalon, the event’s location. I was guided into a side room of the Avalon, which was packed and so I had to push my way over to the Sweets & Treats table to sample a sweet. I would have tried a handful more, but one must be careful about eating too many sweets. This is also where I ran into the FURIO designer.
I made my way out and headed to the stage area by scooting past security with my media pass. The photo pit was already packed with photographers so I found myself slightly off to the side. Last year when I was at the Avalon, the photographers crowded the runway, but this time around everyone stood off from it.
While waiting for the night to start, I was approached by Boditecture. My first comment to her after she gave me her business card, “So you’re from San Francisco?” She told me that she designed “convertible” clothes. It did lead to a fascinating runway show for Boditecture. What was going to happen next on the runway?
The night was split into two fashion shows. The first one highlighted Luica, Ermelinda Manos, JaJo Couture, Boditecture, and Danielle the Dressmaker. In between, Hyper Crush (pictured right and below) gave us a techno/hip-hop set that screamed to me, Club Moscow!!! Maybe it was just my perception, but I think I was the most excited photographer during their set. Remember, I did tell FURIO that I mainly did music photography.

The second fashion show highlighted Melissa Velia, Edita Collection, G. Marie, FURIO, and Glaudi.
Now since fashion is not my “M.O.”, I am taking a big leap here, but I did like G. Marie the best.
After all was wrapped up, the designer for Danielle the Dressmaker came over to the photography pit and told us that she was very sorry about how her models didn’t stop at the end of the stage, but that she had instructed them to do so. The photographers expected a different process and kept on yelling “Stop!” to all the models. The models must have gone back and informed her and so she came out to explain the situation. It was very thoughtful of her to come out and talk with us.
LUICA
