The Genius of Wormstew…
In keeping with the “plug friends’ projects” theme of the last column, this week I’m going to try to drag somebody kicking and screaming into the spotlight (at least, the caliber of spotlight I’m able to provide—more like a nightlight with a flickery bulb). That somebody is my friend Mike Schnee. In addition to working full-time, Mike is the guitarist for the LA punk band Pu$$ycow, makes wonderfully low-budget videos, and writes songs under the dual sobriquets Chissum Worthington and Wormstew. He once told me he only sleeps four or five hours a night, and he’s the kind of quiet, effortless creative whirlwind that makes me want to throw up. In fact, I wish I could live inside Mike’s brain for a day, just to see how he’s able to make quality stuff so consistently and without any recognition.
