Many a time BB and Siria have what they call "Marathon Nights," which basically entail making it (or trying to make it) to three or more events/happenings. Very often, those nights are filled with music, art, fashion, and friends-- this evening it's all music. Eclectic at best.

My observation of Year Long Disaster (pictured right and lower left): I think they must be anti-vampires. At one point, the lights came down and the lead singer said, “It is so dark and no one can see how handsome our bass player is.” This was said with a sense of humor, but he was serious because he gave a look to the back that indicated that he’d prefer to have the lights on. And when the lights went on, he said “Thank you.” Hmm, a fear of the dark?!?

Random Comments: Finn Riggins is from Idaho. One of my friends is very proud of the fact that she’s from North Central Idaho. I almost called her up and told her to come to Silverlake Lounge to check out the band from Idaho . . . but she doesn’t own a car so I didn’t torture her with this information. Hung out with some friends at Spaceland, they really loved Casxio.

I have certain band addictions when it comes to the local music scene. There’s the long time addiction to The Mulhollands and Automatic Music Explosion. There’s the more recent addiction to IO Echo.

Now I couldn’t help but transfer some of my Los Angeles based knowledge over to Vancouver. You can find some decent stuff on Monday nights in Los Angeles. You have free shows at Spaceland and Silverlake Lounge. The Key Club has Steel Panther (Metal Skool) and every so often some of my favorite local bands play that night. So I couldn’t help thinking that perhaps Vancouver had some Monday night shows, as well.

I headed over to Echo Curio recently to check out three bands. This was only my second time going over to Echo Curio. The first time was to see Spider Problem and Underground Railroad to Candyland. That was an interesting night that involved some art destruction. You see, Echo Curio is an art gallery on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park.
